Delaware's State Facts

Here is an interesting fact, Delaware is the second smallest state in the U.S.
The nickname the Diamond State doesn't come from there being lots of diamonds, it comes from Thomas Jefferson who called Delaware a small, valuable jewel.
Delaware is the only state without National parks, historic sites, and memorials.
Delaware is called the "First State" because it is the first state to join the Union/America
Delaware is only 35 miles across at it's widest point.
The state's chemical industry was founded by DuPont's gunpowder factory in Wilmington in 1802.
Did you know that Delaware has no major sports teams but it has a major auto track where two NASCAR races are held each year?

Delaware used to be a slave country which means slaves were held there.
